Today I arrived in Dubai! I’m here because my one-month tourist visa will be expiring soon and I need to renew it. In fact, I’ve been offered a job as a Marketing & Investment Associate at Al-Burj Al-Mumayis, Saumen and Maliha’s company, so I’ll be re-entering Oman on Saturday with a work visa! Additionally, I recently teamed up with Fernando and a few other people, and we’ll be performing in some professional dance gigs at big events during the next few months – probably pop/hiphop type stuff more than Latin dance – and I’m SO excited. I danced with Fernando for nearly 3 hours yesterday just trying to come up with choreography ideas, and it made me feel a lot better (although now my muscles are in bowlines).
As for Dubai, I’m really excited to be here. Mohammed told me one of the reasons he loves coming to Dubai is just to “look at the buildings,” which initially made me roll my eyes. And then I arrived this morning…and the buildings are BREATHTAKING. I have never seen such a glorious architectural spread. I want to go up in Burj Khalifa – the World’s Tallest building and right outside my window right now – and check out the view. I’m also delighted to be eating some good fattoush and lentil soup and hummus with puffy arab bread, since we get KFC and Pizza Hut for dinner nearly every night in Muscat and I often eat Dunkin’ Donuts for breakfast…not the most wholesome diet.
Oh AND i’m about to go out for ice cream and/or dinner with Shaesta’s daughter Saman and her two gorgeous daughters Zohra and Zuleiha, which I’m so excited about. Then I’m meeting up for drinks at the Dubai Marina with three of Yvette’s best friends from Burundi who live here in Dubai. I’ve never met them, but they have offered to take me around and I’ll be staying with them for the next three days! SO excited. More soon, hopefully with some photos!!!
