So I’m currently working with the Experiment Events as the Project Manager for the first annual Entrepreneur’s Conclave, an event created by the company’s Director, Zameel Ameen, to identify and support young entrepreneurs in the Sultanate of Oman. Check out our promotional video, linked above, and this excerpt from a recent Muscat Daily article describing the event, as well as other press clippings linked below! So exciting!!!
“In view of this and in an effort to find Oman’s budding entrepreneurs and help them get support from successful entrepreneurs, and also raise capital to start businesses, The Experiment Events recently announced the launch of Entrepreneur’s Conclave 2014 to take place on March 29 at Oman Sail, The Wave Muscat.
The conclave is a hunt to find the most promising entrepreneurs in Oman, to help them find a mentor in successful entrepreneurs from within the country, and to participate in a regatta together to learn the ropes of business and find a platform to let their ideas set sail.
The conclave will also take up issues and problems facing young Omani entrepreneurs. With Omran and Sharakah as strategic partners, the conclave is poised to lend young entrepreneurs who have been in business for the past 18 months to five years, a helping hand.
Zameel Ameen, founder and director of The Experiment Events, said, “The motivation to organise this event came from my own experience as an entrepreneur. The vision is to provide promising entrepreneurs a platform for networking, as well as raising capital at the same time. It is a good platform and the best chance an SME could get. We are inviting Oman’s top investors and government-funding organisations for the conclave.”
The conclave will provide an opportunity to aspiring young entrepreneurs to connect with, learn, experience and present their business to the leading entrepreneurs of Oman.
Ten candidates, who will be selected after a thorough screening process by a jury, will thereafter team up with established senior entrepreneurs in Oman for a case-study solving exercise and a regatta competition.
The regatta competition will see the most promising entrepreneurs teaming up with successful entrepreneurs of Oman. The candidates will get a chance to watch and learn from the attitude, mannerisms and thought processes of an established entrepreneur.
“Sailing is one of the most team-oriented activities that requires presence of mind, on-the-spot decision-making, leadership, communication, and team work – which are almost the same as the personal attributes an entrepreneur would require,” said Ameen.
“Through the regatta, the selected participants can learn and see how successful entrepreneurs perform in high-pressure situations and make decisions that will help them in their future businesses. This will not be a race. The idea is to gauge the personality of the selected young entrepreneurs, which will be one of the criteria to shortlist the three best out of selected ten,” said Ameen.
In the next step, three winning candidates out of ten, who will be selected based on their performance during the conclave sessions, will have an opportunity to showcase their company credentials to a panel of investors at a gala dinner to raise capital for their business. One of the best three will be nominated as ‘Entrepreneur’s Conclave 2015’ brand ambassador.
Leading entrepreneurs Qais al Khonji, Etab al Zadjali and Hassan Juma will be the brand ambassadors of the event that will feature interactive road shows, exclusive registration processes, an exciting regatta competition, extensive social media activity, in-depth radio announcements, and a gala dinner hosted for the top three winners.
“Along with our brand ambassadors, we will also have seven more senior successful entrepreneurs who will participate at the conclave session. These are people who have worked on their passions, provided jobs to many nationals by being entrepreneurs and have made their dreams come true,” added Ameen.”
